After a year and a half of nursing school, I went on a much needed vacation for a month to visit family. When I returned I saw that I had received a summons for jury duty. The date of the postmark and day of appearance was 12 days apart. Obviously, since I was on vacation I didn't appear. What should I do?
Call the number and inform then that you just received the summons and that you were out of state visiting family for an extended vacation after a lengthy school.
call the number and tell them you just got back
Call them ASAP...be ready to show proof that you were away that long. Don't wait too long to call them!
It is illegal to miss jury duty, but most of the time they do not do anything to people who miss jury duty so I would just not worry about it.
