Elizabeth II is called so because she is the second monarch named Elizabeth.
=========
Henry VII is the grandfather of Queen Elizabeth I. Margaret Tudor was the older sister of Henry 8th. When Elizabeth I died childless the line of succession passed through her descendants.

Queen Elizabeth the second (of her name)
The Roman Numerals denote which monarch of that name you are talking about. So the next time you see a number after a monarch's name, just add 'of her name'.
The British line of succession has over 1000 people on it and if a monarch dies childless then the throne will pass to the closest living relative who can then pass it to his/her children.
As Elizabeth I died childless as did her siblings Edward VI and Mary I. The throne went to James VI of Scotland who was Elizabeth's first cousin twice removed (his great-grandmother was Elizabeth's Aunt being the sister of Henry VIII).
It's not like the tradition of passing the same name from father to son, where if there was (for example's sake) a George Brown II, there would have to be a George Brown I.
In reality, the queen and the first Queen Elizabeth are not directly related, Elizabeth II being from the House of Windsor and Elizabeth I being from the House of Tudor.
Hope this helps.
By the time we got to Geo II we got this. . .

So impressed was King George Two that he stood up throughout the playing of the Hallelulja Chorus - thus we all stand up for it today.
Soon after this when King George III [son of 2] was king, we started to get this. . .

From this point on, it all got a bit wobbly really. About half the British people wanted what the Americans had already got following a successful Revolutionary War.
Okay so far?
Well, HM Queen Elizabeth II is a direct descendant of George III - a German.
