Teenage Love Child help!!?

  • One of my friends is pregnant and is due any day now... her parents kicked her out(and are not going to help her at all with the baby and neither is his parents) and she is living with her psycho boyfriend, who basically wants nothing to do with her. He just got fired from his job a couple weeks ago because he got into a fist fight with another worker. He can start back up again after the first of the year. So right now he's just not working. My friend works at the local grocery store 4 hrs a week and she isn't really making enough money. She doesn't really have any baby things because she cant afford them right now.. but the baby is due soon! I've given her some baby outfits and somethings here and there. Should i take this upon myself to buy things for her? or what?


  • No! I know that it would be a big help to her, but really she needs to learn to fend for herself. She will become dependent on you. What would be a bigger help is to take her down to a local woman's shelter, or the welfare office in your area. I'm in Canada and we also have Crisis Pregnancy centers that can help her a lot more than you can..(meaning financially and more long term) She works 4 hours a week, she can be looking for assistance for herself also. She needs long term help, a crib and diapers aren't going to fix her issues.
    Be a friend for her, but don't support her. It turns into a vicious cycle, and your the one that's going to get hurt in the end.


  • There are lots of websites across the US that you can find other people who have things that they are willing to give away for free... Ie: Bassinets, Cribs, Strollers, etc. I think what you need to do is find one in your area and get her stuff for free off of that.

  • i think you should do what u can after all it isnt your kid..tell ur friend for of all she should find somewhere else to live because bringing a baby up around a madman isnt a good idea..second of all tell her to go to thrift stores or walmart where u can find good clothes for not much money..good luck to ur friend


  • Its a good idea to help her out, but, she might become dependant on you and start asking for other things you just gotta be careful.
