Shampoo/Conditioner - What is really good?

  • I'v been trying to find a new shampoo & conditioner to use. I'm going to get a perm soon, & I want good treatment for my hair. I am mix black/asian, so my hair is naturally thick & curly. Well, it's not curly anymore due to all the straightening treatments I have done.

    So, what shampoo/conditioner would you recommend for my hair?
    I have already tried Pantene, Herbal Essence, Infusium 23, & Loreal. I have been trying to think about using Garnier Fructis soon. Just not those up there. It can be any price.


  • most shampoos contain the same ingredient. its just in the name. the branded ones cost more. just be careful though with fake ones. they can be damaging rather than making your hair better. it's not a good idea to keep on changing shampoos. stick to the brand that you like best and affordable to you. always get advise from your hairdresser. they are the real experts.


  • i really, really like pureology. it's actually designed for people who color their hair, so it doesn't have harsh detergents that strip hair of color. also because coloring your hair (as well as chemically straightening it) can really dry out your hair, the shampoo is actually moisturizing for a change. i think the first time you use it, you'll definitely feel the difference. my hair is really curly, and after just shampooing, i could already comb through my hair with my fingers and the wide-tooth comb effortlessly. so even though i don't color my hair, but it's naturally coarse and dry, i like the pureology line because my hair definitely feels softer and more hydrated after using the shampoo and conditioner. since you'll be relaxing your hair, i recommend the blue bottles of pureology (smoothing line). it's a little pricey though...about 22 or 24 dollars for the shampoo and about 26 dollars for the conditioner. it might cost less at a salon though. if you can get it on sale, that would be awesome too. hope i helped!
