What kind of fish will get along with my guppies?

Wednesday Mar 17, 2010
  • i have 6 guppies in 10g tank,im going to buy some fish.. so what kinda fish can i put together with my guppies??

    Thanks 4 The Answers..

  • Get some coryadora as bottom feeders as all the others have said guppies are prolific breeders and you could end up with a lot of fish hence their name million fish.

  • nothing unless you get a bigger tank
    1gallon per fish inch
but plecos sucker fish, gobys, fiddler crabs, sword tails, alge eaters, gold. any non agressive fish

  • If you at least one female guppy, very soon you will frys. In a 10gal tank 6 guppies and fry are over crowded leading high nitrate level.

  • if you want them to thrive dont add any more

other wise i guess you could add a platty or molly (molly is best in brackish but guppies can handle brackish)

  • Actually, don't get mollies. They can be aggressive even though they are a community fish. You shouldn't get more fish, because guppies breed like crazy. Here are some options
    tetras
    platies
    shrimp
    corydoras
pleco (you would have to get a bigger tank)
    gouramis I believe.
    rasboras
Stay away from tiger barbs. They are "community fish" but nip fins. Hope I helped!

  • You could add 3 small bottom feeders, like cory catfish, but nothing else otherwise your tank will be overcrowded, especially if you have males and female guppies because they are avid breeders.

  • guppies are surface dwellers, so your tank at the moment must be very bland. Add these:

4 cherry barbs - stay in the middle/bottom

    and then 3 corydoras.
