Research on School Children's Revision techniques for Examinations

Tuesday Mar 16, 2010
I am carrying out some research on the following questions for my Post Graduate Certficate in Education (UK Teaching qualification). How do children feel about revision? (Do they think revision is worthwhile and useful in gaining good results.) What techniques do they use to revise? How could teaching techniques be improved to promote better revision? The research is on school children of UK secondary school age (11-18 years old) but I am looking for any research worldwide. I have done quite alot of research so far and I have found a number of papers on the revision practices for students in higher education (18+) on how they revise for understanding or for route learning, but nothing for school children. I want to find any research that has been done on school children's revision for exams specifically looking at the three questions above, but any more general research would also be useful. Be careful when carrying out a search since revision is also used in English for revision (re-drafting) of essays etc.
